Under recent discoveries, I realized all cities have their own lingo.And a lot of it can be translated.Google translate needs to come up with a City to city translate option.This was discovered while trying to explain Chengra to a friend from Delhi, Chengra in Calcutta, is the exact same thing as Gawaar in Delhi.So while Gawaar means something else in Calcutta it takes on a Chengra meaning in Delhi, the whole business makes you love India so much more.I don’t think it can be divided up so cleanly though, the divisions where words morph meaning are very blurred, and are sometimes region wide, and sometimes only campus wide. Some words are city specific and can’t be translated coz those situations arise only there, like aantel, it can’t be translated because aantel is very very Calcutta specific.But this Inter City Dictionary NEEDS to be compiled. There needs to be an Inter School Dictionary too, but that would give away too many inside jokes, and school is pretty much just the sum of its inside jokes.

Anyway, getting back to the poster, it’s only the Beatles who could have taken walking and made it look cool, that and not wearing shoes. Incidentally, the Indian football team wasn’t allowed to play in the 1950 World Cup because they didn’t play with shoes on, see, I know useless pieces of trivia. But I think Mc Cartney would have sympathized with them.

The weather’s behaving erratic again, with the rain and the heat and it not knowing how to behave itself.  Rain goes with every single song ever written, the really sad slow ballads, the high energy dance music, rock music, classical music, everything, it’s very versatile that way. And it’s also very Indianized weather, in the culinary sense, you can’t have cheese balls or onion rings in the rain, you have to have pakoda, and proper greasy besan pakoda, it doesn’t work any other way.

I’ve been watching a lot of tv and most of it is happy go lucky Star World, they have this Happy Hour thing where they show sitcoms but since they repeat it through out the day, it’s pretty much happy all day. But they’ve started cheating, they replaced Two and a Half Men which was all happy with Scrubs, which seems happy but the thing is it’s not, it’s funny in bits but then it’s really really, I-want-to-cry-but-I-can’t-because-it’s-happy-hour kind of sad.  They had this episode yesterday where a patient was dying, and JD(who has the nicest eyes ever) and Turk were trying to help him out with the whole acceptance bit, and on some level they succeeded and on another failed completely. The man was all nice and jokey and happy about his last beer, and it was ok, but then they played “I will follow you into the dark”, by Death Cab For Cutie, which is the most weird assed name ever but that doesn’t stop them from making really amazing music. And this is the most retrospective-ey song ever, it’s just a guitar and the words, and it’s WOW, and I’d somehow not realized till yesterday, as a result of which I spent an hour just listening to that song on loop. You have to be entirely emotionless to not feel anything when this comes on-

And the Castle came on and the last bit was even sadder, in a bittersweet kind of way, but I can’t tell you what happened because that would ruin the episode if you haven’t watched it, and I had the really irritating stinging(it’s caused by some gland whose name I do not care about and will not Google, ok, I, will, but after this), but I didn’t actually cry, though it would technically be ok since Happy Hour was over.

Anyway, moving on, we likened every aspect of Hitler to Harry Potter and it totally worked, the Brown Shirts and the SS were the Death Eaters, he acted like Dolores Umbridge and the whole High Inquisitor deal when he got a law passed by which he could pass any law he wanted without the parliament’s approval.  He used media such as the newspaper and the radio to further his propaganda, Daily Prophet duh. All in all, J.K. Rowling scares me.

The internet is rather awesome, it’s shown me a number of things recently, recently being whenever I have a ton of work since I’m online then only. That there’s a font known as aquiline which looks exactly like Dumbledore’s handwriting and you can make the font green and choose a parchment template on word and be Dumbledore.  That the word OK looks like a sideways person and QK looks like a sideways ninja, bed looks like a real bed.  That Barney Stinson is legen-wait for it-dary, ok, that one I knew from before.

Now, to explain the long absence, I’m lazy. I was logged in with another profile and it’s too much work to keep logging in and out, but now I’m here so yay.

In other news, sixteen to sixteen.  And a lot of work , and math and mun. I’m getting really tired of all the MUN puns, MUN rhymes with an inhuman number of words. But I have become an authority on all things Kashmir thanks to the MUN, and will hopefully attain the same status regarding Israel-Palestine. There will soon be an entire posts on MUNs, and formal clothes and entertainment motions, once the MUN-which-must-not-be-named is over.
